Romulus Capital Co-Founder Neil Chheda has been accused of defrauding investors through misinformation around a nonexistent person and other antics in his former role as director of EquipmentShare, according to an article by 9fin published this week.
Privately-held EquipmentShare, which has been reported as planning an IPO, has been at loggerheads for some time with Romulus and Mr. Chheda, who is also accused of effectively shorting stock in the company.
Bizarrely, Mr. Chheda has been accused of pretending to be a person named Sarah Williams, who apparently doesn’t exist. “[T]he brief alleges that Neil Chheda set up the email ‘SWilliams@romuluscap.com’ and then would pretend to be Sarah Williams, looping her into conversations, asking her questions, and the fake Sarah Williams would then reply cc’ing Neil,” 9fin reported.
