A majority of institutions incorporate AI as part of their main business functions, yet many boards do not have formal oversight structures for AI governance, according to a governance framework paper published on research platform SSRN.
The paper proposed a practical approach to support boards on AI management that includes the STAR framework (Shareholder Value Thesis, Threat Parity, Ability, Risk Budget) for quarterly oversight, among other tools.
