ICR Hires BlackRock Executive to Lead Governance Advisory Solutions Group

Lyndon Park Joins ICR as Managing Director, Head of Governance Advisory Solutions

By John Jannarone

ICR has hired Lyndon Park, a former executive at BlackRock and Dimensional Fund Advisors, to lead its newly-launched Governance Advisory Solutions practice, the communications and advisory firm announced Thursday.

The new group, which ICR established as it hired Mr. Park, will advise boards of directors and management teams on corporate governance matters and shareholder engagement, the firm said on its website.

Mr. Park joins ICR from Dimensional Fund Advisors, where he was head of Global Corporate Governance. He formerly was a vice president at BlackRock Investment Stewardship. During his career, Mr. Park has engaged with hundreds of board and management team members and worked on landmark proxy battles including Valeant/Pershing Square vs. Allergan and Procter & Gamble vs. Trian Partners.

The best defense is a good offense in corporate governance: boards and management teams must proactively engage with their shareholders and those that influence them to understand their priorities and develop a mutual understanding over the long term,” Mr Park said. “After years of interfacing with many of the world’s leading companies on behalf of some of the largest institutional investors, I realized there is a need for enhanced advisory support to guide boards and management teams on their governance and engagement strategies.”

Mr. Park joins a team of more than 150 employees at ICR whose backgrounds range from investment banking to politics to journalism.

“Lyndon will provide our clients with a deep understanding of activist tactics and motivations having led engagements and determined proxy outcomes for most of the key activist, hostile takeover, contentious M&A situations and other event-driven situations in recent years while at Dimensional and BlackRock,” said Phil Denning, Partner at ICR.
