CorpGov hosted a fireside chat on Sept. 10 at Nasdaq MarketSite with Marc Yaklofsky, Managing Partner of Forward Global, and Brendan M. Foo, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Forward Risk, the investigations and intelligence practice of Forward Global. The in-person interview was joined by Editor-in-Chief John Jannarone and they discussed the company’s launch of its new office in New York, the biggest challenge clients face, what to do when a company faces an activist investor, and more.

About Marc Yaklofsky

Marc Yaklofsky is the managing partner of Forward Global New York, specializing in strategic communications, reputation management, and geopolitical risk advisory for financial institutions, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.

A seasoned corporate affairs strategist, Marc brings over 20 years of experience leading and advising on communications, investor relations, and public affairs issues for top financial and fintech firms. Previously, he was a managing director at FTI Consulting in its strategic communications group, advising banking, asset management, digital asset, and fintech clients on brand strategy and reputational risk management. Prior to FTI, he served as global head of communications and public relations at Genesis Global Trading and co-founded Shorr Resources, a strategic communications and investor relations advisory firm.

Earlier in his career, Marc held senior communications and investor relations roles at BNY Mellon, FS Investments, Nomura, Merrill Lynch, and Bank of America. He began his career as a financial institutions analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Marc serves on the advisory boards of the PA Blockchain Coalition, CT Blockchain Association, and SHOT: We The People. He holds an MBA in Finance from Syracuse University and a BS in Business Administration from Bucknell University.

About Brendan Foo

Brendan M. Foo is a Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Forward Risk, the investigations and intelligence practice of Forward Global. He leads the firm’s corporate contests practice, and his clients include some of the world’s top activist investors. He has also been engaged by issuers and their outside counsel on over 75 proxy contests and hostile takeover defenses. By bringing together his expertise as a practitioner and strategist, he has helped clients to prevail in multiple high-stakes proxy battles.

Brendan has extensive experience in all the firm’s core practice areas, as well as significant international experience. He has lived, studied, and worked in several countries. He also speaks Chinese and has undertaken multifaceted investigations for clients doing business around the world.

Prior to co-founding Forward Risk, Brendan established and led the Asia Desk and headed internal research operations in aid of initial public offerings and private equity due diligence at a global risk and compliance firm. Early in his career, he worked as a journalist in Singapore.

Brendan serves on the board of directors of the Capital Rowing Club and on the advisory board of the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Fordham University and an MSFS from Georgetown University.
