IRVING, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Vizient,
Inc. announced today the release of its 2018 Corporate
Responsibility Report, prepared in accordance with the Global Report
Initiative (GRI), the most widely adopted global standard for
sustainability reporting.
“Corporate responsibility is engrained in our values-based organization,
and we voluntarily measure ourselves against GRI benchmarks to affirm
our dedication to operating according to the highest standards of
ethics, transparency and conduct,” said Byron
Jobe, Vizient president and CEO. “We leverage insights from this
process to measure year-over-year progress, hold ourselves accountable
as an organization and identify areas where we can affect change in
health care.”
The latest report details stakeholder engagement from member health care
organizations, employees, suppliers and industry organizations as well
as outlines Vizient’s material topics such as procurement practices,
community outreach and adhering to the highest standards of integrity
and transparency. Highlights from the report include:
-
The
Vizient commitment to prevent toxic chemicals and regrettable
substitutions, which has resulted in the creation of the largest
portfolio of environmentally preferred sourcing (EPS) – more than
450,000 products in over 1,400 agreements. -
A people-focused, proactive approach to disaster response such
as when a Vizient-member nursing facility needed to evacuate its
ventilated patients during a hurricane. Vizient connected it to
another skilled nursing facility, which quickly provided transport. -
An agreement with Inner City Capital Connections further enriching
and expanding supplier diversity throughout the health care industry. -
Environmental
improvements to sustainability in the Southwestern Medical District.
Vizient, along with Toyota, the city of Dallas and the Texas Trees
Foundation, hosted the first 100 Resilient Cities workshop in the U.S.
to find solutions that would improve mobility, reduce pollution and
decrease the district’s overall heat island impact.
The report also highlights Vizient’s community outreach, including
corporate grants, international volunteer projects and the annual
Community Day, when employees leave the office to partner with local
charities making a difference. Since 2003, Vizient employees have
donated 8,017 hours of their time and dedication to their communities
through this program.
