Symetra Celebrates the Power of Community Volunteerism During 11th Annual Week of Service

Nearly 800 Symetra employees to volunteer at 54 nonprofits—34 in
Puget Sound region

BELLEVUE, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Symetra CEO Margaret Meister joined hundreds of company employees
yesterday who turned out to volunteer at community projects across
Symetra’s Puget Sound hometown region and around the country as the
national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance
kicked off its 11th annual Symetra Week of Service.

From June 10-14, nearly 800 Symetra employee-volunteers will take time
from their workday, roll up their sleeves and tackle 73 projects on
behalf of 54 nonprofit organizations. They have contributed more than
16,000 Week of Service hours since the program began in 2009.

“We are proud to support our employees’ volunteer spirit during Symetra
Week of Service
and throughout the year,” said Ms. Meister, who
helped clear invasive plant species along the CKC Trail in Kirkland,
Washington. “As individuals, our employees are empowered to give back to
the causes and organizations that matter to them personally through
hands-on service opportunities like this. Every year, we all look
forward to this powerful expression of Symetra’s ‘Swift to Serve’ core
value as we come together on behalf of our communities.”
