Vinson & Elkins said Alex Canizares is the firm’s new partner and co-head of the Government Contracts practice in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Canizares has experience in public and private practice, complex litigation, investigations, and enforcement actions, the firm stated. He is also a former trial lawyer with the Department Of Justice’s Civil Division.
“Alex is a proven leader in the government contracts bar, with a phenomenal track record representing clients in FCA matters, bid protests, and other investigations and litigation involving the government,” said Chris Popov, partner and head of the firm’s Litigation practice.
Mr. Canizares earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. He is also a co-chair of the American Bar Association Public Contract Law Section Procurement Fraud and False Claims Committee.
