In an ambitious step toward New York state’s climate goals, the New York State Climate Action Council approved a Scoping Plan on Dec. 19, 2022, which sets forth a series of recommended policies and actions.
The 445-page document — a result of over two years of work, including a draft plan, a six-month public comment period, hearing testimony, and 35,000 written comments — covers sector-specific and economy-wide actions focusing on long-term job opportunities, climate mitigation, justice, and economic opportunity. The Scoping Plan is available to the public and was submitted on January 1, 2023 to the Governor of New York and the State Legislature.
