Prior to founding Hestia Capital in 2009, Kurt’s investment experience included time as an Analyst/Senior Analyst at Relational Investors and First Q Capital, and as a co-Founding Partner at Lemhi Ventures. His prior strategy and operating experiences include serving as a co-Founder and Director of Competitive Strategy at Definity Health and as a consultant with Braxton Associates/Deloitte Consulting, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and the Lemhi Group.

Kurt currently serves on the Board of Pitney Bowes (Ticker: PBI), where he is the Chair of the Value Enhancement Committee. He previously served on the Board of GameStop (Ticker: GME), where he was a member of the Strategic Planning and Capital Allocation Committee, and of Edgewater Technology, Inc. (Ticker: EDGW), where he was the Audit Chair, up until its acquisition by Alithya Group, Inc. (Ticker: ALYA). He received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Carleton College.

A big believer in giving back to his community, particularly through child-focused charities, Kurt was previously a Big Brother and served as the Chair of Missing Children Minnesota. He continues to stay engaged through coaching, where he focuses on helping kids learn life lessons through sports.
