Vinson & Elkins Hires Jenny Speck in Expansion of Energy Transition Practice

By CorpGov Editorial Staff

Vinson & Elkins said it hired Jenny Speck as a Houston-based partner in its Energy Transition and Tax Practices.

Tax transactions involving renewable energy projects have been a huge driver of the energy transition since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which grants renewable energy developers tax credits that they can transfer and monetize.

Vinson & Elkins has closed a dozen transactions with an aggregate credit volume exceeding $1 billion in transferred tax credits, generated from wind, solar, storage, RNG, and nuclear assets.

The firm brought in a renewable energy tax specialist earlier this year from Shearman & Sterling and hired a renewable energy tax team several years back from Wilson Sonsini.
