GRESB Names Kilroy Realty North American Office Leader in Sustainability for Sixth Year in a Row

Kilroy Realty Also Wins NAREIT Leader in the Light Award, Office Sector

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kilroy Realty Corporation (NYSE: KRC) announced today that for the sixth time it has been named the North American office leader in sustainability by GRESB. GRESB is widely recognized as the most rigorous standard for measuring the sustainability performance of real estate companies and funds, and GRESB participation has become standard practice for most of the world’s fund managers and listed property companies. GRESB ranked KRC first among 58 office participants in the Americas, and also first among 62 listed participants in the Americas across all asset classes.

In addition, KRC is the winner of the NAREIT Leader in the Light award in the Office sector for the sixth time. NAREIT’s panel of judges assesses both GRESB results and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) performance factors in selecting its awardees.

KRC accomplishments that led towards this outcome included a commitment to carbon neutral operations by the end of 2020, significant energy and emissions reductions across the portfolio, the alignment of financial and sustainability reporting with the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures and the incorporation of ESG factors into named executive officer compensation.

“Sustainability is integrated across all aspects of our business at KRC, which is why we’ve been able to achieve ongoing leadership in this field,” said Tyler Rose, CFO of KRC. “We deeply appreciate this recognition from GRESB and NAREIT as a validation of the hard work our teams are doing to continuously improve our sustainability programs.”
