For the second time since Bloomberg released its inaugural Global Activism Market Review in 2019, Vinson & Elkins’ Shareholder Activism Practice has been awarded the distinction of top practice both globally and in the U.S.
The commendation, based on the number of shareholder activism campaigns defended in 2021, follows a 40% year-on-year increase in Vinson & Elkins’ company-side engagements, tallying a total of 38 on the year.
The recognition by Bloomberg is the latest Vinson & Elkins has received for a prolific record in company defense, with Activist Insight having awarded the firm an unprecedented sixth-straight top ranking as part of the publication’s 2021 Adviser Awards.
Over the six-year period, the Vinson & Elkins Shareholder Activism practice was credited with defending 194 campaigns waged by activists against boards and management teams of public companies, surpassing the number two practice by 75 campaigns.
To round out the recognition, Bloomberg also named Vinson & Elkins as top legal advisor in the Consumer Discretionary, Energy and Industrial sectors.
